Smart Film Singapore: Privacy Glass at the Touch of a Switch

Switch glass from clear to frosted for meeting rooms, clinics, offices, studios and glass partitions. Applied onto suitable existing glass, so there's no glass replacement, and the frosted mode doubles as a projection surface.

Same Glass. Two Moods.

One meeting room, one switch: frosted when you need privacy for a meeting or consultation, clear when you want an open, bright space.

The problem

Glass Rooms Look Great, Until You Need Privacy

Glass rooms feel open, bright and modern, but they often lack privacy for meetings, consultations and calls. Curtains and blinds look bulky, collect dust and spoil the clean look of the space. Smart film gives you privacy on demand, without replacing the glass.

Instant privacy

Clear to frosted in under a second, at the touch of a switch or remote.

Clean & modern

No curtains or blinds. Sleek, minimal glass that stays easy to clean.

Projection ready

Use frosted mode as a rear-projection surface for presentations or visuals.

UV protection

Blocks up to 99% of UV rays and helps reduce solar heat (supplier-reported).

Added safety layer

The film can help hold glass fragments if the glass breaks, subject to the glass system.

Flexible controls

Wall switch or remote as standard; wired, sensor, voice or app control by scope.

How smart film works

One Glass. Clear When You Want It, Private When You Need It.

Smart film uses PDLC (polymer dispersed liquid crystal) technology. It is applied onto suitable glass and connected to a low-voltage power and control system. Switched on, the glass is clear. Switched off, it turns frosted for privacy.

Applied onto your glass

Fitted onto suitable existing interior glass, cut to your panel sizes.

Connected to power

Wired through a transformer, with a planned route for cables and maintenance access.

Controlled your way

Switch, remote or smart control, for one panel or a whole room.

Instant privacy or open view

Frost the glass for meetings and consultations, clear it for an open, bright space.

Important to know

Planned Properly, Before Installation

Smart film needs a power supply and proper coordination. Before we quote, we look at:

  • Glass size, flatness, edge condition and site access
  • Interior or exterior exposure, heat, humidity and direct sun
  • Power route, transformer location and maintenance access
  • Control method: switch, remote, wired, sensor, voice or app
  • For projection: projector side, throw distance, brightness and ambient light
  • For etched designs: logo file, scale, placement and lead time

Standard smart film is for interior glass and isn't recommended for outdoor exposure.

Smart film FAQ

Smart Film Questions, Answered

Does smart film need electricity?

Yes. Smart film is connected to a low-voltage power supply through a transformer and uses very little power (about 5 W per square metre or less when on). Switched on, the glass is clear. Switched off, it turns frosted for privacy.

Can it be installed on my existing glass?

Yes, in most cases. Smart film is applied onto suitable existing interior glass, so you don't need to replace the glass. We check the glass size, flatness, edges and site access during assessment.

Is the glass really clear when switched on?

Yes, it becomes transparent. How clear depends on the grade you choose: premium clarity grades have very low haze for high-end spaces, while cost-effective grades suit areas where ultra-clarity matters less.

What happens during a power failure?

Standard smart film turns frosted when there is no power, so the room stays private. A reverse type, clear when off and frosted when on, is available for special control needs.

Can smart film be used for projection?

Yes. In frosted mode the film can act as a rear-projection surface for presentations, videos or campaign visuals. Results depend on the projector, throw distance and ambient light, so we test this during assessment.

Is it suitable for clinics and meeting rooms?

Yes. Meeting rooms, director rooms, consultation and treatment rooms are some of the best uses, because you keep an open, bright space and get privacy only when you need it.

How do we control it?

By wall switch or remote control as standard. Wired, sensor, voice or app control can be considered depending on scope.

Can it be used outdoors or in direct sun?

Standard smart film is for interior glass and isn't recommended for outdoor exposure. A special high-temperature grade may be considered for heat or exterior-facing applications, subject to assessment.

How do we clean and maintain it?

Wipe gently with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid sharp tools and harsh chemicals. We give you a care guide at handover.

How long does installation take?

It depends on the number of panels, glass size and the wiring route. We confirm the timeline after the site assessment, and plan the work to keep disruption to your space low.

See it. Touch it. Write on it.
